Don’t you just love the Staples easy button commercials? I think they’re ingenious! If only it were that easy. I’ve ran into plenty of suspect-prospects who are, you guessed it, looking for the easy button. Press once – 20k/month. Press twice – 40 leads/day.
When it comes to Internet and network marketing, there is no such thing as the easy button (I know, huge revelation). But you see, I think some of us – in trying to grow our business – may be guilty of supporting that perception. You see the ads out there, all over the place – “Generate 20-30 leads a day”, “See how I went from mopping floors to 30k/month in 60 days”. If there was an easy button…sure! Not saying it’s impossible. I mean, it DOES happen for some… some very FEW.
As professionals, we need to make sure we give prospects a dose of reality. “You know Mr. X, some people actually LOSE money in this business”. “You will need to work hard for results”… “This business will be what you make it”. The more forthcoming we are with our prospects about what it takes to own and build a home business, a network marketing business, the better chance we have of getting a team member that will stick around and put in some sweat equity. They will know – there is no easy button.
