I was listening to the great Jim Rohn earlier this week; one of my old CDs where he was talking about network marketing and the philosophies that helped him succeed. One of his teachings that stuck with me, just as it did back then, was that we should Study, Practice and Teach. It makes so much sense because from my experiences, you really learn more by teaching – and you cannot (or should not) teach what you haven’t studied and practiced.
As Internet and network marketers, one of your primary concerns should be to provide overwhelming value to the community and those who are seeking information. A lot of you are already capable of doing that. You’ve probably have hundreds of ebooks on your computer hard drive. You probably already know what you have to do from a marketing perspective to grow your business. Your job then is to study that material you have; study and become knowledgeable about what it takes to be successful in your business. If you’re part of a community such as MLSP, you have all the tools available for you to study.
Once you have studied a particular subject, you then have to put into practice what you have studied. This is how you become a ‘subject matter expert’. For example, if you study social media marketing, you need to go out to Facebook and Twitter and implement what you learn. In doing so, you have to be consistent until you 1. know the subject inside out and 2. you get results. When you can speak intelligently about a particular subject, you are ready to teach!
Teaching is an awesome way to remain proficient in a particular subject. From an Internet and network marketing perspective, this is how you provide value, help build your brand and attract followers. There are several things you can do to begin teaching what you’ve studied and practiced. One of the best ways is by hosting a webinar. Even better, host a series of webinars on a particular subject and teach different aspects and solutions related to that subject. Other things you can do is write articles and/or blog posts. You could also cut videos and post them on your blog and YouTube.
Study – Practice – Teach. This is a powerful strategy for growing as a person and growing your business. Thank you Mr. Rohn.
